Provably fairHow the dice work
OmertaEra has no hidden random number generator. Every action that involves luck draws its numbers from three ingredients:
- Server seed — 32 random bytes the house generates for you and keeps secret. You are shown its SHA-256 hash before you play, so the house cannot swap it later.
- Client seed — a string you can set yourself on the in-game Provably Fair page. The house never knows it in advance of you choosing it.
- Nonce — a counter that goes up by one with every action you take under the pair.
For an action the game computes HMAC-SHA256(key = serverSeed, message = clientSeed + ":" + nonce + ":" + block) with block starting at 0. The 32-byte result is cut into eight 4-byte big-endian integers, each divided by 232 to give a float in [0, 1). When eight are used up, block goes up by one. A simple action succeeds when its first float is below the chance shown on screen. Casino games draw as many floats as they need (a shuffle uses 51, roulette one, keno twenty).
When you rotate your seed pair, the retired server seed is revealed. Paste it below with your client seed and the nonce of any outcome and you get the exact numbers the game used. The in-game page does this for you with one click and replays the full game logic.
