Race Track — rules

How Race Track plays in OmertaEra, the free Prohibition-era mafia MMO. The same rules are shown where the game is played, and every outcome is provably fair.

10 horses and one race for the whole track every 60 seconds; betting closes 45 seconds after it opens. Back one horse to win, one bet per race; if it crosses first you are paid its odds (stake included), otherwise the stake is lost.

Pays run from 4× on the favorite to 50× on the outsider, stake included.
A horse’s chance of winning is in proportion to how little it pays: from 22.8% for the favorite to 1.8% for the outsider. The betting table shows every horse.
Every horse returns the same 91.3% over time (house edge 8.7%), so no pick is better value than another.
